The Dogwood Parade Committee may deny entries and/or require immediate departure of any entry if that entry is not obeying the enclosed rules and regulations.

DOGWOOD Parade Rules

Ensuring A Fun Time For All

Rules

General Compliance:

  • All participants are subject to the rules established by the Phoenixville Jaycees Dogwood Committee and the Phoenixville Police Department. Both authorities reserve the right to remove any participant or group at their discretion.

Participant Line-Up:

  • All parade entries must be aligned in their designated zone by 12:15 PM on Saturday, May 18th.

Distribution of Materials:

  • The distribution of candy or other objects by throwing is strictly prohibited. Candy may only be handed out directly by walking participants.

Vehicle Requirements:

  • A designated driver must remain with each vehicle in the line-up area at all times.

  • Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited within the line-up area, on any float, in any vehicle, or on any participant. Consumption of alcohol prior to or during the parade will lead to immediate removal from the event.

Advertisements and Endorsements:

  • No political advertisements or endorsements are allowed. Current elected officials are permitted to participate.

  • Marketing companies are welcome but may only promote their own services, not those of their clients.

Parade Movement:

  • Participants must maintain a continuous forward motion to prevent gaps. A minimum distance of 100 feet should be maintained between each unit.

Behavior and Safety:

  • All participants must complete the entire parade route.

  • No excessive revving of engines, squealing of tires, blowing of air horns, racing, driving erratically, or hot-rodding.

  • Live animals participating in the parade must either wear waste catchers or be accompanied by a cleanup crew.

Driver Regulations:

  • Any participant operating a motorized vehicle must possess a valid driver's license and may be asked to show it by the committee.

Consequences for Non-Compliance:

  • Failure to adhere to any of the above rules may result in immediate removal from the parade. The Parade Committee aims to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators.
